Started by Benjamin Russell in Alabama, USA in 1902. In the early 1920s, they created the world's first prototype for sweatshirts, and in 1938 they developed the world's first rubber print (the prototype for today's American rubber print). Later, using that technology, they popularized sweatshirts with school names and logos in bookstores at schools and colleges across the US, as well as uniforms. In the 1980s and 1990s, they signed supplier contracts with American professional sports (NFL, MLB), and Russell's "R" mark (Eagle R) is a long-established brand that is recognized throughout the US.
